Play report, ignore me Last night during In the 3rd session of my 5e Dark Age Britain Shit & Shieldwalls campaign Beloch Shrike's 2d6 encounter table where a 12 is always a dragon generated a dragon in the first hex of the night. Since the PC’s are only 1st and 2nd level, I told them they saw a barrow on hill nearby. I’d already decided that for dragons I was going to go with the explanation from Bernard Cornwell’s Saxon stories, where they talk about dragons living in the tombs of the Old People. The gold in the tomb produces a dragon to guard it. There’s a boulder blocking the entrance, but the mighty Dumnonian barbarian rolls a 20 to move it out the way. Poison gas comes rushing out, so saves all around. That barbarian is the only one not to save so he’s poisoned, disadvantage on rolls. They’re also already beat to shit because we’re using the rule where a short rest is 8 hours and a long rest is a week. So they have no way to heal at all. They light a torch and creep in. I...
