Battletech screenshots, just because. I did two Death-From-Aboves in this fight (one pictured), just because. I did not play it well though and my Blackjack and Spider got super fucked up.

Blame Into the Breach and Battletech and also Half-Price Books for having a cheap copy of Osprey’s Horizon Wars wargame. I ordered five sprues of these mechs from the Game Crafter website, along with some 1” plastic tanks and tiny mechs from the old Risk 2210 game to use as power armor troops. No idea what they’ll all look like together or when I’ll get around to doing anything with them. For $2.40 a sprue with four mechs per sprue, these seemed like too good a deal to pass up. https://www.thegamecrafter.com/parts/sprue-4-mechs-w-armament?dept_uri=&dept_name=

From Voyageurs National Park on FB: Called “Catamaran” by locals, Bert Upton is among the strangest of historical characters on area waters. He lived in a hut built over a dug-out at Squirrel Narrows. Found frozen to death in the 1930s by Kettle Falls pioneer Oliver Knox; Upton was perched lifeless in the snow just a half-mile from his home. Shunning civilization, Upton defined the word hermit. First spotted rowing his crude log raft on Namakan, no one knows how he got there. Upton’s accent implied an English heritage but any personal inquiries brought a stony silence. Some suspected him a man fleeing the law; others saw a bizarre outcast; everyone knew he was peculiar. Just five feet tall and wildly unkempt, Catamaran wore hacked-off pants and walked barefoot with a stick. Winter demanded shoes but no socks, a cast-off Mackinaw, and a trailing cap made from the leg of old underwear. He was oddly religious, and suspicious of being poisoned. Surviving on snared rabbits and fish, he ofte

Worrying about why there were so many different species of horned dinosaurs all sharing the same space seems weird to me. Googling "how many antelope species are there in Africa" yields the answer 72, with 21 living in the same park together. https://blogs.scientificamerican.com/laelaps/the-latest-in-horned-dinosaur-fashion/

A blizzard on April 14th. The last time I saw this much snow in April it was Nineteen-tickety-seven and a few days later my town flooded and I had to evacuate for weeks. I have the same look on my face as this taun-taun.

I run tabletop RPGs, and in my current game one of the characters is a caveman type who naturally grew up hunting dinosaurs. As one does. His weapon is a dinosaur bone, customized and used as a club...let’s assume for the sake of this exercise that it is and that it is four feet long stem to stern. Given that, two questions: discounting the extra bling attached how heavy would such a bone be, and what kind of dinosaur could it have come from? https://svpow.com/2018/04/11/ask-sv-pow-could-you-wield-a-club-made-from-a-dinosaur-femur/

Packed my reproduction black-powder revolvers last night. I put them back in their boxes and noticed on my Colt Navy's box was a copy of the engraving that is on the cylinder with the note engaged 16 May 1843 . That is the date of a naval battle I'd never heard of, The Battle of Campeche, where the Republic of Texas navy, hired as privateers by and fighting with the navy of the Yucatan, took on Mexico's modern ironclad steamships and fought them to a standstill. The only time wooden ships would successfully engage ironclads. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naval_Battle_of_Campeche

I've been wondering if the G+ people at Google have been salivating at FB's discomfort. Originally shared by **** Related: Seriously, It’s Time to Ditch Facebook and Give Google+ a Try The differences between Facebook and Google+ are numerous and significant. There are no ads on Google+. Nobody can buy their way into your feed or pay Google for priority. Google doesn’t micromanage what you see. Google doesn’t sell your personal information to any third parties. The entire philosophy of Facebook is dead wrong — a massive, manipulative violation of users’ personal information and communications on a gargantuan scale.
