That's a lot of XP right there. #gameable Originally shared by American Museum of Natural History Measuring just over 2.5 inches tall, the Patricia Emerald is among the world’s most magnificent uncut emeralds. The 632-carat crystal group weighs about 4.4 ounces, and is the largest example recovered from the Chivor Mine in Colombia, one of the world’s most renowned emerald-producing countries. Because of their value, most emerald crystals of comparable size have been cut into gems and sold commercially. “Only a small number of large emeralds have been saved, and we are indeed lucky to have one of the fabulous few,” says George Harlow, curator in the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences. What a great animal. Never even heard of them before. Totally #gameable  . Scale them up to sea monsters. Originally shared by Marko Bosscher Tully Monster mystery solved The bizarre animal named Tullimonstrum gregarium was a scientific mystery for 5 decades. “The monsters are related to the jawless fishes that are still around today by a unique combination of traits, including primitive gills, rows of teeth, and traces of a notochord, the flexible rod-like structure along the back that’s present in chordate animals—including vertebrates like us.” https://www.fieldmuseum.org/science/blog/monster-mystery-solved

Legend has it that George Stickney was found slumped in a corner of his home that had accidentally been built at a 90 degree angle, a look of horror cemented on his face. #gameable   http://www.atlasobscura.com/places/george-stickney-house

Leap second got me thinking.

Leap second got me thinking. The fish of the Devonian Period experienced rather short days. We know that the Devonian year had 400 days, making each day only 22 hours long.  Using lasers, we have confirmed this movement and found it to be 3.8 centimetres per year. This may seem too small to make a real difference, but when added up over hundreds of millions of years, we can calculate that the Moon is now twice as far from Earth as it was during Devonian time. As a consequence, Devonian tides were up to seven times larger than today’s tides. There's a #gameable  sci-fantasy world for you. Huge tides, short days, and a gigantic moon hanging in the sky. http://www.miguasha.ca/mig-en/a_devonian_day.php

With food and ammunition depleted and the men's hopes waning, the Germans unleashed a fresh onslaught of artillery and gunfire. The French troops cautiously peered over the top of their trenches. A large, black animal was bounding in their direction. From a distance it was difficult to tell exactly what the charging four-legged creature was. It was wearing a monstrous gas mask, and something was stretched across its shoulders that extended almost like wings. Then one of the soldiers, a handler named Duval, recognized the animal as his own—a messenger dog named Satan. Duval called out to the dog, urging him on. Leaping over the cratered earth, Satan raced toward the sound of his handler's voice so fast that some of the men later swore he was flying. Hail Satan Also, #gameable . This is a contagious cancer.

This is a contagious cancer. The cancer cells are the mutated DNA from the cells of the original carrier. So this disease is a parasitic unicellular dog that reproduces by infecting other dogs. I think that Tasmanian devil face cancer is the same. Oh, this is totally #gameable. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canine_transmissible_venereal_tumor

Important summer safety tips. I yanked a kid out of the pool last summer. His mom was 10 feet away, but he wasn't making any noise. Also #gameable  . While playing in a gravel pit the five children – Robert, Anthea, Cyril, Jane and their baby brother, known as the Lamb – uncover a rather grumpy, ugly and occasionally malevolent Psammead or sand-fairy, who has the ability to grant wishes. He persuades the children to take one wish each day to be shared among them, with the caveat that the wishes will turn to stone at sunset. This, apparently, used to be the rule in the Stone Age, when all children wished for was food, the bones of which then became fossils. #gameable http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Five_Children_and_It
