Blame Into the Breach and Battletech and also Half-Price Books for having a cheap copy of Osprey’s Horizon Wars wargame. I ordered five sprues of these mechs from the Game Crafter website, along with some 1” plastic tanks and tiny mechs from the old Risk 2210 game to use as power armor troops. No idea what they’ll all look like together or when I’ll get around to doing anything with them.

For $2.40 a sprue with four mechs per sprue, these seemed like too good a deal to pass up.

  1. Yoink! This could be perfect for our Gaslands car conversions.

  2. I have come hellishly close to buying that same set many times.

  3. $0.60 a mech! The pic is really bad on the website, but this pic shows that the detail is actually pretty good. Two styles of mech, and enough weapons to make several loadouts…

  4. Chris Carpenter I hadn't thought of that. Absolutely worth it just for the weapons.

  5. Wait, there's 5 mechs I think. Top left is another torso there's chicken walker legs.

  6. Yeah. 5 bodies, 4 humanoid, 1 chickenwalker. 10 limbs, 2 missile pods, 2 gun barrel arms, 2 double barrel arms, 2 pairs of humanoid arms.

  7. I got a box of these cheap at Gen Con one year. Only put together a couple of the mechs so far. It's a great deal for decent mech minis.

Good call on using the weapons for Gaslands, Chris Carpenter. Completely forgot about them!

  8. Steve Sigety do you know what these are originally from?

  9. Casey G. I remember they were sold in a generic sci-fi box but I don't remember the name. I'll find it tonight and post a pic.

  10. Once upon a time, I made a game with The Game Crafter which relied on miniatures that they stocked. They promptly ran out of stock for the miniatures and the game couldn't be sold.

  11. The fact that they have only 27 pieces of these sprues in stock doesn't inspire me to make a game using them.

  12. Well how about that. Now that I've seen these assembled I'm flipping through Horizon Wars and these mechs are featured throughout.https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/Hlrs7c1Hl4_2pQJZecFbVo_huiuk1-isyr5_PcFe07knUYkXWjTCd46bHQQlZqjDeN8jWDsTrbw

  13. How is Horizon Wars? That has been on my wish list for over a year now.

  14. It's pretty generic, but interesting. It was worth the $7 at Half Price Books.
