Now dual-booting Ubuntu and Win7 instead of just the WUBI install.

Now dual-booting Ubuntu and Win7 instead of just the WUBI install. Holy christ-on-a-pogo-stick Ubuntu is blazing fast. I don't think I'll be going back to Windows very often.

Android got me into wanting to tweak my devices and make them my own. I've never really done that with a PC before, so this is pretty freakin' cool.

  1. I might recommend gnome 2 with compiz maybe instead of unity if you want to really go crazy.

And welcome to the world of doing stuff so fast you end up staring at the screen for 5 seconds waiting for stuff to be done not realizing it's been done for the last 4 seconds.

  2. I'm trying to remember why I typically boot into Windows on this box.

I think it's because I've got cygwin on this box, and a Linux box in the corner that I can run all my X apps on... but I don't do so much any more that specifically needs Windows.

I think it's just momentum, I can't be bothered to do the work needed to get this box to dual-boot.

  4. As someone who's been using linux since '99 and linux exclusively since 2003, it seriously warms my heart to read things like this.

  5. Steam will be nice. But most of the games I've got are from the Humble Indie Bundle, and all of those have Linux versions so I just need to download them.

  6. Enjoy tweaking it. That's the best part of linux. Feel free to hit me up if you run into anything 2 minutes of googling can't solve.

  7. Thanks, Corey Thuen. How about getting Java to work? I installed Open JDK and IcedTea whatever, but it still doesn't seem to be working.
