Just reading about the Valley of the Mage in Greyhawk.

Just reading about the Valley of the Mage in Greyhawk. My ACKS party is currently near the entrance to the valley. It’s a secluded, secretive place where all the inhabitants are fanatically loyal to the Mage, who they call “Exalted One.” It’s actually pretty boring.

If my players decide to go there, I’m changing “Exalted One” to “Dear Leader” and making the Valley into fantasy North Korea. The elves and gnomes all wear identical uniforms. Secret police everywhere. Disinformation about the world outside the valley. The dwarves from the Barrier Peaks that trade with the valley protect it ruthlessly since they’re the only buyers of the valley’s rich silver output.
