One of the best, simplest rules in 5e is that combat classes that don't wear armor add another stat's bonus to their AC. Wisdom for monks, Con for barbarians.
Speaking of monks, I like them a lot. Flavorful but still seem easy to play.
and barbarians can still use a shield, which fits the theme
ReplyDeleteYeah, that's cool too.
ReplyDeleteI still really want to get into a 5e game to see what all the hubbub is about.
ReplyDeleteOpen-Hand monk is the way to go. The element bender monk is a really cool idea but all of the abilities are really overcosted. Meanwhile the Open-Hand can knock two people prone each round (or other effects).
ReplyDeleteOpen hand is the way I'd go because I like kung-fu fighters way more than ninjas or 'benders.
ReplyDeleteI went open-hand because it went with my character idea of a evil monk who performs brutal MMA moves on kobolds.
ReplyDeleteYou could also apply this rule across the board for settings where armor isn't worn. Like Barsoom where everyone runs around naked.
