Have you ever ran a campaign where the PCs had a base?


Have you ever ran a campaign where the PCs had a base? If so, was it ever attacked? That’s where my Magick & Megacorps campaign is heading. I’m trying to be wary of railroading. But being prepared for several possible outcomes will be hard.

    Yep and yep, gave foreshadowing so it wasn't out of the blue completely. They walked in during the event and got to work. I decided to have the assault be in such a stage that the PCs could stop the worst of it, but I think that a few NPCs were dead when the party arrived.

    Yep, and yep, and it ended up being attacked while the PCs were away, so I basically rolled a few dice and handwaved it. (It didn't get especially blown up.)

    In my Marvel Superheroes game in middle school, I think the PCs base was assaulted more than once--maybe even destroyed twice.

This is my gaming circle minus my ACKS players. I am such an asshole. Since they're in the big city now, the players really wanted to know if there were any magic weapons for sale. ACKS ain't 3e or 4e though. There is exactly one magic weapon for sale. I rolled randomly to see what it was and... ...it's a cursed -2 sword. So I told the players there's a weapons dealer/fence who's looking to get rid of a magic sword he's gotten ahold of...cheap. Only 6,000gp when usually a +1 item would be 10,000gp. So far they are not suspicious. They're going to be so pissed at me. I can barely contain my excitement.
