Fantastic game. The AC10 is horribly inefficient. I'd suggest a couple of 5s and medium lasers with great armor or, if you have the missile version, LRM 15s.
I'd say its 90% likely there won't be a Hatchetman DLC.
The mech assets are licensed from Piranha Games and their Mechwarrior Online. This necessarily limits what's available. Sadly, favorites like the Hatchetman and any 40 tonner that's worth while aren't in MWO, so they won't be appearing here. Some other mechs are tied up in the Harmony Gold lawsuit, including the Warhammer, Marauder, Phoenix Hawk, and Archer, and then there's those that haven't been invented in the game yet, like the Raven and Wolfhound.
That said, HBS has announced plans for several DLCs, and the game is easily set up for additional stories.
William Altman on the flipside, I seem to recall LOTS of HBS enthusiasm for the Hatchetman. Maybe not right away, but I have faith in the headchoppas showing up.
Humza K Oh they like the mech, or at least the folks I know who work there do. Its a question of whether or not they will develop the assets for it in house or if Piranha will introduce it for MWO. Most likely we'll see both the Warhammer and Marauder if the HG lawsuit is ruled in favor of Piranha as the assets were there during Beta. That won't make those mechs any good, mind you, given how much extra heat PPCs now generate vs. TT.
In the mean time, you can basically build your own Hatchetman with enough arm mods on a Blackjack or Vindicator. The model won't be as cool, but hey.
Humza K I can very much believe that that about the WHM and MAD =)
I wouldn't say the BJ-1 has a penalty per se. The melee numbers are all over the place in this game. BJ melee 45 + 70 stability, DFA 55 + 70 stability & 30 self damage. VND 55 melee + 55 stability, DFA 45 + 55 stability & 50 self damage. Source: https://battletech.gamepedia.com/Battlemechs. So less damage but more stability and a solid DFA. Obviously we could expect the Hatchman's base numbers to look different. My guess would be scary melee and a DFA whose efficacy (probably low) was balanced with the number of hardpoints that are available.
Edit: In fairness, I'm pretty sure some of the numbers on that website are off as I recall the Wolverine only doing 70 damage with its meathooks, not 80. So I can't say with certainty that the BJ and VND numbers are correct. battletech.gamepedia.com - Battlemechs
Originally shared by Jonathan Tweet Tonight, my "Lethal Damage" 13th Age campaign draws to a close. Meanwhile, the guys are work have talked me into running a couple D&D sessions for them. That was the day 13th Age was announced, and they're happy to play 13th Age instead. That will be my "Great Center" campaign, based in the imperial capital of Axis, the center of the world. It's my opportunity to explore the setting from yet another perspective.
Life is short and unfair. I don’t even know what to say. Hours after the last picture I posted of Alice and the kids we came home from the movie to find her nearly dead in her kennel. She stayed at the vet for 36 hours, and after making some improvement on the first day, started to fade last night. I was with her when they put her to sleep this morning. We buried her collar and her stuffed elephant under our deck where she liked to crawl just out of reach. Alice had four owners in her short life. She survived being hit by a car and moving from Alabama to Minnesota. Then being moved around in foster care before she got to us. I hope she knew she was with for the long haul. She was a good pup. This is the last picture I took of her. We were visiting her yesterday at the vet, anticipating bringing her home today.
Pre-gen from Frank Mentzer's module, The Needle , 1987. I knew this was insulting and gross when I was 14. At the time I didn't know who Frank was, since I only played AD&D. I found this module again when I was going through a box of old stuff and was surprised he wrote it, because I thought it was a pretty shitty adventure.
I'm about to spin this up next! I played one of the earlier alphas and was excited about that! What'd you think of your late night run?
ReplyDeleteThat I've got to wait for good shots when I've only got eight rounds of ammo for each AC.
ReplyDeleteI have played this more than any other game I own. I can't stop tweaking my mechs.

ReplyDeleteI'm waiting for the Hatchetman DLC.
ReplyDeleteAre they not in there? I've been waiting to see one.
ReplyDeleteThe are not on the featured list on the wiki. I assume new mechs will be added in later patches or through DLC

Ah well, still lots of giant robots to go around.

William Altman hey if a WHM or MAD shows up, I will make it good thru sheer force of will and sheer awesomeness of chassis. :D
ReplyDelete(Also Hatchetman thru modding a Blackjack? Doesn't the BJ have baked in melee penalties?)

Humza K Well, you were right! I didn't think they'd make their own Hatchetman model, but they totally did. I am not sorry that I was wrong either.
ReplyDeleteHere's to hatchet-choppy goodness!
ReplyDeleteHumza K Hooray!
