Target has Halo "Micro Ops" toys on clearance.
Target has Halo "Micro Ops" toys on clearance. I got the VTOL, two drop pod sets (two pods each + ODST), and a Ghost set for $2.38 each. I need to check other Targets to see if they've got more. I would buy as many VTOLs and Warthogs I could find. The drop pods are pretty neat too. Good for terrain or reinforcements.
Scale is probably 18mm. Vehicles are fine for 15mm, but the Spartans and ODST are tall and thin for 15mm. Not a huge deal, but maybe for scale nazis it might be. But I got enough minis here for a game for under $10.

Holy shit! Guess I know what I'm buying tomorrow morning. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteHmmmmmmm...
ReplyDelete... Red vs. Blue the minis game...
Michael Wight you need Frag o' rama minis anyway.
ReplyDeleteIndeed.
ReplyDeleteare these approximately 1 inch / 28mm scale?
ReplyDeleteNope, they're about 18mm. They'll work with 15mm minis, but you'd probably want to group them together, not with other brands of minis. They'll look tall and thin in comparison.
ReplyDeletewell darn. i was thinking some space marine figures could come in handy in lots of different table top role playing situations. but the majority of my collection is 28mm.
ReplyDeleteand i'm not a console gamer so i don't really have strong brand associations with halo stuff. but i know they are iconic for lots of people. so i already had reservations about it 'cos of the associations they may introduce with players. looks like a pass for me.
thanks for passing along the info. and congrats on scoring a great deal. :)
You might look at Ebay or Troll and Toad for Halo-clix. The game is out of print and the singles might be cheap.
ReplyDeleteclix stuff is 1.5 inch. but the minis look good and are cheap. it's almost enough to make me jump ship. but that means new minis, a new mega mat, scaling up and reprinting the savage worlds templates, etc.
ReplyDeleteI rebase all the clix I buy.
ReplyDeleteWhen I have to use Clix stuff for minis games, I just forcibly remove them from their bases and attach them to leftover Warhammer square bases.
ReplyDelete...of course, some are easier to remove than others...
is that easy? i've seen stuff using 1-inch washers which i find appealing but i suck ass at even minor arts & crafts stuff. i'm a web developer. i need an undo button when i make stuff. ;)
ReplyDeleteAt the game store there should be just black 25mm bases. Pop the clix off with a hobby knife (even a box-cutter), dab of superglue on the feet, stick on base, done.
ReplyDeletePopping them off their bases is destruction, so you should be fine at that.
In some cases, I found that you have to saw them off, and sometimes you need to hold them steady for a while when gluing.
ReplyDelete...mostly been a problem with my HeroClix.
On that note, superglue is great for closing cuts sustained while hacking clix off their bases.
ReplyDeletenods in pained agreement
