(1) Special hosts “quibus glutinum ablatum est” (that are gluten-free) are invalid matter for the celebration of the Holy Eucharist.(2) Low-gluten hosts are valid matter, provided that they contain the amount of gluten sufficient to obtain the confection of bread, that there is no addition of foreign materials and that the procedure for making such hosts is not such as to alter the nature of the substance of the bread. 11

  2. When I was a kid, the Presbyterians just cut regular sliced white bread into cubes and dumped it in a brass dish.

    Done.

  3. We do that too, only with gluten free bread since a few years ago when someone in the congregation mentioned it was a problem for them.

  7. Well, the main argument is that it should already be gluten-free via the miracle of transubstantiation. I feel sorry for any gluten intolerant Catholics out there. My wife is allergic to wheat, and I can tell you it is a real thing. Just a small amount of cross contamination gives her a violent reaction.
