Just the kind of story I like. By which I mean, violent and brutal, but with characters who are actual people and not cartoons even when they're badass.

It was also ridiculously refreshing to see a post-apoc setting where the humans weren't constantly dicking each other over. The cultists were the exception, not the norm.
ReplyDeleteIt actually seemed like the settlements took it as a good sign when other people showed up. Not quick to trust, but also just glad to see surviving travelers.
Yeah, the first time they got stopped at a roadblock I was thinking, "oh, here we go," and then they let them into town. "Huh!"
ReplyDeleteI agree, it was a really good movie. Not at all what I was expecting.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you liked it! +++ what Stephen King said. I loved that it was post-apocalyptic, but a very human post-apocalypse. There were still dances and haircuts and life kept going. It just got harder.
ReplyDeleteI love Mickle/Damici so much.
I am glad to hear others enjoyed it as well.
ReplyDeleteThe Netflix description doesn't do it justice, in that case.
ReplyDeleteLex Larson that's why I skipped by it about a million times. Like, "Eh, vampires. Whatevs."
ReplyDeleteCasey Garske I had the same reaction.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed this movie as well. And I initially skipped it for the same reason. But that cover with the Harvey Keitel look-alike just kept bringing me back, until I finally watched it over Xmas last year and really enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteI am super psyched I got my photo taken with and the chance to talk to the Harvey Keitel look-alike ;)
