I've been thinking about the solo adventuring rules in Kevin Crawford 's Scarlet Heroes and using them with his Spears of the Dawn setting.

Here's my solo hero made using both rule sets. I used the Scarlet Heroes class with the Spears economy and used the cultural backgrounds as a guide for making Traits.

This worked slick. Hopefully I have time to get this dude plundering a randomly generated Eternal tomb-house this weekend.

  1. I'll see if I can't get you the updated beta soon so the dungeon-crawling solo section is complete. Right now it's a little lacking on the monster end of things, with that duped table in there, but I've fixed that in the final.

  2. I was going to make a little encounter table based on the Threat level.

  3. Here's the replacement text. I'm trying to get the additional "Dungeon Inhabitants" page finished up today, but this will do in a pinch. It's a 3d6 roll:

3    Minion or Civilian actually willing to help the hero.
4-5    Unusual foe; roll on a Bestiary chapter encounter table.
6-8    1d4+T hit dice worth of foes numbering several Minions or Civilians and possibly an Elite.
9-12    2d4+T hit dice worth of Minions and Elites.
13-15    1d6 + T hit dice worth of Minions and Elites, with a 50% chance of T hit dice worth of guard beasts or allies.
16-17    2d4 hit dice of Minions plus 2 * T hit dice worth of Elites, Mages, or Boss enemies.
18    A Boss with T+3 hit dice, with a 50% chance of a guard of 3d6 hit dice worth of Minions, Elites, and Mages.

  4. This is cool stuff and something I had briefly considered working at, myself.
