    Well, I do know that in NC, you can't be a notary public if you're an atheist, or hold any elected position, for that matter.

    Reading my pamphlet, I can administer both written and oral oaths, but there's nothing about the nature of the oath.

    As long as the soul-owner appears in person and does not appear coerced or unwilling. I don't think I'm required to cast know alignment or detect magic beforehand.
