Tonight, my "Lethal Damage" 13th Age campaign draws to a close.

That was the day 13th Age was announced, and they're happy to play 13th Age instead. That will be my "Great Center" campaign, based in the imperial capital of Axis, the center of the world. It's my opportunity to explore the setting from yet another perspective.

ReplyDeleteDaniel Swensen my favorite dinosaur seems trite, but it's T-Rex. The greatest predator to walk the earth. All others are pretenders, even the ones that were slightly bigger.

Sandy Jacobs-Tolle they're coming. I've noticed too. Standard 1st level mount for the ostrich dinos will be the Gally (gallimimus).

T-Rex was a tiger, a large predator who would or course scavenge when it could scare smaller animals from their kill.
Marshall Miller Probably depends on what the dino ate. The birdlike dinos, being ancestors of birds, probably tasted close to wild fowl.

If dinosaurs played an RPG, which one would they play and who would be the GM?
ReplyDeleteDinosaurs are cool, I talked about them on my Ask Me Anything thread. But what about Megalodon? Could they eat a T-Rex? Disadvantage for terrain notwithstanding, of course.

ReplyDeleteRenee Knipe I think T-Rex and megalodon are like Batman and Captain America. So evenly matched they immediately realize neither can win and so they team up.
ReplyDeleteRotPL will have an interior ocean so of course I'll work megalodon in there. Along with Xiphictinus, mosasaurus, and plesiosaurus. That should do it for sea monsters.

ReplyDeleteTom Tyson I don't know if I even know the answer to that. Maybe the old Broncosaurus Rex by Goodman Games? But I never bought anything for that except the "Complete T-Rex" and "Complete Velociraptor."
ReplyDeleteSo I'll say Hollow Earth Expeditions because it's got quite a few and their art is excellent.
Hopefully people will want RotPL for the dinosaur stats even if they don't care about hexcrawls.
I always thought of T-Rex like the male lion. Predator or scavenger when the opportunity arises. He wouldn't pass up chasing a hyena away from a meal but could hunt most of the time as well. The same applies for a bald eagle that I saw chasing away some crows from a dead deer.

ReplyDeleteOK, least favorite that I've purchased is Aces and Eights. I thought the shot clock thing looked awesome, then I read it and it had the fiddliest mechanics I've ever read. And as alternate history it was completely boring.
