Monument Valley, I give you 3.

Monument Valley, I give you 3.5 stars. So close to greatness. Style and gameplay are excellent. The minimalist storytelling was nice, but would have been better if they’d not had the little guru ghosts trying to give you tiny nuggets of backstory through terrible writing. No dialogue at all was necessary. The puzzles varied wildly in quality. Some were very good, especially once you start spinning shapes to make new connections. Some of the middle puzzles were just not really puzzles. Just following along opening the next section. They were pretty, but not challenging.

  1. I just got a boodle of Amazon coins from some promos they're doing, so I'm thinking of getting this even though it's short and imperfect.

  2. It's still totally worth playing. I hope they iron out the kinks and make a sequel.

  3. If they do I hope they put it on Amazon too... most of the pay apps I want are on the Play store but not there. I really love their art style so it seems worth it for that alone. Now to figure out where to spend the other coins....

God of Light is another puzzle game with pretty art, and it has good music, but I currently have it uninstalled because it will NAG ME if I don't play it every day, grr. I also run it with a firewall because I don't think it has any business chatting with the Internet.

  4. They need more levels, for sure.  I didn't mind the story, though.
