Now I'm thinking of this book series. Very entertaining and great for gaming inspiration.

I recommend:
The Big Book of the Unexplained
The Big Book of Conspiracies
The Big Book of Little Criminals
The Big Book of Bad
The Big Book of Thugs
The Big Book of Weirdos
The Big Book of the Weird Wild West
This was my childhood jam:

We had 16 or 17 of the 21 volumes. Damn those guys were good at keeping subscribers on the hook! But I think it ended up being either this or groceries one month, and we never got back into the swing of it. :(
I WANT ALL THIS
ReplyDeleteI had Conspiracies and loved it.
ReplyDeleteYeah, these were great.
ReplyDeleteThugs was a personal favorite.
I need to revisit this series. It turned me off when I was younger because, quite frankly, it looked like a tabloid, and I was into the, uh, more academic-seeming Fortean Times.
ReplyDeleteI have the whole run, and I can also say that they're a great trivia primer if you ever have a chance to go on Jeopardy.
ReplyDelete"Who is Herbert Tarnower?"
