This is my gaming circle minus my ACKS players. I am such an asshole. Since they're in the big city now, the players really wanted to know if there were any magic weapons for sale. ACKS ain't 3e or 4e though. There is exactly one magic weapon for sale. I rolled randomly to see what it was and... ...it's a cursed -2 sword. So I told the players there's a weapons dealer/fence who's looking to get rid of a magic sword he's gotten ahold of...cheap. Only 6,000gp when usually a +1 item would be 10,000gp. So far they are not suspicious. They're going to be so pissed at me. I can barely contain my excitement.
Extremely tempted.
ReplyDeleteI'm tempted by this since I just got the book, not the box.
ReplyDeleteAlso the models look great and the Rogue Trader dudes are pretty distinct from most things that GW has done. Well, at least done in a long time.
ReplyDeleteUltra-rich posh traders who will blow your head off.
ReplyDeleteRamanan S I’m sure you already know about this, being like 1000 times more plugged into Warhammer than I am, but I still feel the need to tag you.
ReplyDeleteWuuuut
ReplyDeleteYeah man I have been following this release closely. Looks like some nice models. I am hoping they release them outside this boxed set, but I’m not sure that will happen. I’m not sure how many GW boxed sets a man needs.
ReplyDeleteOne more
ReplyDeleteCasey G. Thats been my philosophy so far it seems
ReplyDeleteOoo...seems like you'd be able to use the Gellerpox in a Death Guard army...
ReplyDeleteCasey G. Sounds like it from the description. Need to look and see if anyone has photos of the 40K codex for the units.
ReplyDeleteThat's how they getcha.
ReplyDeleteTo be clear, this is a set with two sides ready to go?
ReplyDeleteYeah, but not the core rulebook.
ReplyDeletegregory blair Yeah, it just seems like an excuse to sell some cool minis.
ReplyDeleteAh balls. So if I didn't have kill team is the starter set or this one+core a better deal?
ReplyDeleteReally depends what minis you are into. The starter set has two armies and a lot of cool terrain.
ReplyDeleteThese Rogue Trader minis are way more intriguing to me then the main box.
ReplyDeleteThe Rogue Trader minis look amazing. My only real complaint is they are all named characters and monopose minis. So unless you are a modelling bad ass it's hard to futz with them.
ReplyDeleteSo it comes to aesthetics then. Mannn this stuff is killing me dammit Ramanan.
ReplyDeleteRamanan S or if you are terrified of changing things because it's all so overwhelming.
ReplyDeleteGreg, you wouldn't need the box sets either. You could pick up the book and see what tickles your fancy and then grab those minis. They've got a lot of faction boxes that come with minis, terrain, and other accessories.
ReplyDeleteIf you look at photographs of the sprues they are basically more or less already built, there isn't much to glue. So you can't change the poses, weapons, etc, unless you are comfortable hacking up a model and using putty and all that junk.
ReplyDeleteI love the way the minis look, so that's cool, but if you wanted to use them to play something other than how they are described in that boxed set it's a tiny bit harder.
The rule book is $50 and there are all sorts of faction to play. The game is basically designed so each faction has units from 1 or 2 40k boxes. And they are repackaging those boxes with terrain and cards as well for Kill Team specifically.
Also the new Warhammer Quest game is rumoured to be about Rouge Traders, so likely more cool models incoming.

Okay, I’ll sub to see why this might be good.
ReplyDeleteI am glad that I am learning to be more frugal with minis after Bones but damned if y'all aren't tempting me.
ReplyDeleteI have some sci-fi Bones that I want to use for Kill Team because I never used them for anything else!
ReplyDeleteCasey G. My bones minis are all in a box embarrassing me in their unpaintedness.
ReplyDeleteMine too. When I painted a few Death Guard I painted one Bones sci-fi soldier type to see how the material took paint. "Not well" was the answer.
ReplyDeleteCasey G. Yeah, they seem so crap after painting the hard plastic Games Workshop stuff. My friend Evan has painted some that James gave him and they look quite good ... but he's like really good and all this junk.
ReplyDeleteI think the process is different but they're supposed to come out okay? I'll let you know when I ever get to one.
