Anyone else have a mixed marriage? As in one of you uses an iPhone and one an Android?
Lately when my wife texts me from her iphone it does not go through to me. Maybe it's just longer texts? She's chatty. I've also gotten a few where we look at what she sent and what I received and it's not even the same message. Like what she sent got mixed in with another message she sent me before.
Googling this finds lots of stuff about when people switch from an iphone to android and their contact info needing to be reset, but that's not the issue here. I've never had an iphone. So, Apple nerds, any ideas?
yeah, it's pretty annoying. They finally have a decent gchat app for iOS, so my wife actually sees the things I send her... when notifications on her phone work right.
ReplyDeleteI thought it was an iMessage/SMS thing. Happened to me when I went from iphone to Android; see if this helps:

My wife is iPhone and I am android haven't had much issues
ReplyDeleteI have android, wife has iphone. We haven't had this particular problem. I get two different ones.
ReplyDeleteFirst, very rarely, texts I send get received hours later.
Second, when she sends me a picture with a caption (or multiple pictures) as a single text, it comes through on my end as a slideshow, which is annoying as stubbly balls because I can't save the image separately. I need to ask for a separate resend sans text.
Try installing Textra as your texting app. It solved issues I was having when included on multi people convos sent from Iphones.
ReplyDeleteI warned my wife that if she was welcome to an iPhone if she wanted one, but that I (as an Android user) would be providing zero tech support. Tech support being among the most-frequently-cited reasons she married me, she opted for Android and has been happy with it ever since.

ReplyDeleteI hear that one secret to good strong marriages is clear communication. =)
I'm in a mixed mobile marriage, and I haven't noticed any issues getting texts from hubster's iPhone.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking it's text length. Maybe her phone is switching from sms to Imessage without her knowing.
ReplyDeleteI get the texts from her, but hangouts does not alert me to them.
ReplyDeleteWhen I switched from iphone to android, any text thread I had with an iphone user had to be started with a new thread. also, some iphone texts to me come through as multiple texts, which I don't know why it does that.
ReplyDeleteI'd use Telegram instead of the default messaging apps: https://telegram.org. Like iMessage it works on all your devices. It also runs on windows and android. So you can basically use it all over the place. This is what I use to chat with my friends who don't have iPhones.
ReplyDeleteGod damn plebeians.
This is timely. My wife wants to finally get a smartphone. I am an apple hater but she is a former teacher. So we are at odds. Maybe this will be ammunition for my side...
