Still in a dinosaur mood.
Still in a dinosaur mood. Acrocanthosaurus isn’t well known and deserves more attention. They were beefy allosaurus cousins from the early Cretaceous. They’re cool because they’ve got neural spines like a bison that gave them a burly look. Acros aren’t famous since they’re not quite as big as a T-Rex, Giganotosaurus, or Carcharodontosaurus. Which is a shame, because they’re pretty cool.

Abelisaurids deserve more attention, too. Those things were built.
ReplyDeleteAbout how big were they?
ReplyDeleteReal big. Almost 40 feet long.
ReplyDeleteYep, really only a couple feet shorter lengthwise than a T-rex.
ReplyDeleteThen you've got the carcharodontosaurs, who are as big (or bigger) than T. rex.
ReplyDeletePFFFT T REX BE TRIFLIN
ReplyDeleteCareful now.
ReplyDeleteI doesn't afraid!
ReplyDeleteBy T. rex, of course, we mean Manospondylus gigas, which is the older name and therefore has priority under ICZN rules until successfully appealed.
ReplyDeleteThis is inspiring me to brush up on my dinosaurs!
