Also watched Wyrmwood: Road of the Dead.
Also watched Wyrmwood: Road of the Dead. Entertaining, but not sure if it wants to be dramatic horror, or comedic horror. Better at just being comedic. And despite having a truck that runs on zombie breath, there are no real car chases. Some nice zombie twists though, with telepathic control of zombies, an explanation why they might be fast or slow, and of course, their use as a fuel source.
it was interesting but i think it's budget constraints lead to some oddities. felt like there were scenes set up that never really materialized such as begging the question of a real car chase. they also shunted some stuff off to the hinted at sequel. i think they were just stuck editing together the scenes they could afford to shoot.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds right. Hopefully they get that sequel and a bigger budget.
ReplyDeleteZombie Fuel Economy: the next Casey G. stand alone RPG. Watch DrivethruRPG for it.
ReplyDeleteThe zombie apocalypse is defeated by capitalism.
ReplyDeleteI didn't consider it necessarily comedy, just... Australian.
ReplyDeleteGood point, Lex!
ReplyDeleteI feel like there was a quirky zombie horror comedy called UNDEAD a few years back. If there's a tonal trend in the sub-genre there, I might have to check this out too.
ReplyDeleteJames Brigham you remember right, 2003.

it's written and directed by the spierig brothers, who also did the near future vampire movie daybreakers which was also fun. i haven't seen their 2014 time travel movie predestination yet but it's on my list.
