Last night at Abby’s swimming practice my wife met another mom who also happens to be a teacher at Abby’s school. This woman’s daughter also has dyslexia. They also couldn’t get the district to set up a 504 or any other education plan for their daughter for dyslexia but “luckily,” the daughter also has ADHD, and they were able to get her on an IEP because of that. Behavior issues get attention, a smart kid struggling with reading doesn’t. Even teachers’ kids can’t get attention apparently. We need to talk to these folks more. 

And most importantly, they live near us and want to carpool for swimming, thank Hextor.
