Han and Chewie’s freighter: has anyone seen decent pictures? I think it’s shown once when it’s swallowing the Falcon? What’s its name? How is it armed? What do the ships the other smugglers/pirates arrive in look like? This is my main complaint about the movie.

Not knowing the name of a ship and how many guns it has is a complaint?

It's a very small one. I just wish there was a nice shot of it and a mention of the name. It's Han freakin' Solo's ship after all.

Your point about it being Han's ship holds a little weight, but how many ships (other than the Falcon) are actually named on screen in the entire series?

Very few, you're right. I was just surprised when I couldn't find anything on Wookiepedia yet even. The internet has ruined me.

We're not in the EU anymore (and I'm pretty happy about that), so don't expect to get those instant (made up by somebody that didn't work on the movie) factoids about everything you see on the screen anymore. I think it's pretty exciting, really.

There's a brief shot of an external camera/sensor on a monitor when the gangs arrive. One of the ships looked a bit like a flattened version of a Star Fleet Battles Kzinti ship.  http://i1023.photobucket.com/albums/af353/marcus_brutus/Kzinti/IMG_4394_1_1.jpg

I also think it's entirely possible Han wouldn't even bother to name a ship that wasn't his baby. He was looking for the Falcon the whole time; maybe the ship we saw was just what he happened to be hauling rathtars and whatever else in at that particular moment.

IIRC It's called the Eravana a CEC Baleen-class bulk freighter. You can find its cross-sectional illustration in the TFA vehicle cross section book. Looks great, the ship is laid out like some dungeon crawl.

  9. Or, y'know, maybe they still are making up names for everything we see on screen... ;)

Yeah, I thought about Han not even caring because it wasn't the Falcon.

Khairul Hisham, thanks, I think the "kids" are going to get the cross section book for X-mas.

  11. I believe it's in the new cross sections book: http://amzn.com/1465438157 (I'll check when I get home tonight).

Wookiepedia also has the name listed on the main TFA page, but doesn't look confirmed yet.

It's in there. And now that I know the name, I've found a reddit spoiler thread from someone with the book that says Han and Chewie have been unable to open cargo hold 9906753, which is the number on the crate containing the Ark in Raiders of the Lost Ark.

  14. from wookiepedia…

At some point, Han and Chewbacca managed to obtain a Baleen-class heavy freighter named the Eravana that they used for their smuggling operations and had even assembled a crew to assist them. Han spent the majority of his free time trying to track down the Falcon.

  15. There are some children's books at Target that have pictures and lots of facts that aren't really spelled out in the actual movie. I don't actually own any of them.
