Random Hexcrawl Thought

Random Hexcrawl Thought
One map, many scales.
Map divided into zones. Zone at the bottom (or east or west or whatever) has a small scale, like 1mi. per hex. Next zone is 6mi. per hex. Then 30mi. per hex. The farthest one is 60mi. per hex. Like a Mercator projection where the farther away from the equator you get the scale increases. If someone asks how a hex in one zone relates to an adjacent hex that is in another zone, answer, “who the fuck cares?”

  1. To show a small, local area with several details and part of the wider world with high level details on one map.

  2. Ah! Okay. So they get bigger as you get farther from the starting point, not just arbitrarily bigger as you travel in one direction?
