Playing 40K video games led me to reading the 40K Lexicanum wiki, from which I learned there was an Armageddon board game that came before the big 2000 event which I did know about, which led me to learn there was a pdf version of the game, which I downloaded, and found this rad picture in the rulebook.

    Ah, Games Workshop back when it was fun. That's John Blanche, I think? He did a load of rad art in 80s rpgs.

    Games Workshop went through an odd phase in the mid 90's and produced a series of chit-based wargames. I never got around to playing any of them but they were supposed to be quite good.

    Oh hang on, I did play one; the one that came free with White Dwarf and was a sort of add-on to Horus Heresy. That was fun, if limited.

This is my gaming circle minus my ACKS players. I am such an asshole. Since they're in the big city now, the players really wanted to know if there were any magic weapons for sale. ACKS ain't 3e or 4e though. There is exactly one magic weapon for sale. I rolled randomly to see what it was and... ...it's a cursed -2 sword. So I told the players there's a weapons dealer/fence who's looking to get rid of a magic sword he's gotten ahold of...cheap. Only 6,000gp when usually a +1 item would be 10,000gp. So far they are not suspicious. They're going to be so pissed at me. I can barely contain my excitement.
