#badatTV Mrs. G and I just finished Daredevil season 2. I don’t know how they made a rooftop ninja fight boring, but they did. It was so dark I couldn’t tell what was happening. And also everything after the first three episodes is pretty stupid.

On to Luke Cage.

Comments

  1. Hot take: Luke Cage isn't very good either.

  2. It could have been better but it was worth it for Bernthal.

  3. I wanted more Punisher, less... everything else.

    Luke Cage is awesome.

  4. Kingpin in jail with Punisher was a bright spot.

  5. When the cops brought out the spotlights I was excited we were gonna get some decent light and contrast. We didn't.

  6. The high point of that season for me was the (ultra violent) Punisher fight in the prison. It was a let down after the superlative first season.

I liked Luke Cage. It gets weak near the end. You will know when. Ha.

  7. First season did a good job with the dim lighting and contrast and what have you. Looked just like the Alex Maleev art from the comics. Also amazing action choreography. The second season seemed a bit too all over the place.

  8. I loved the ninja stuff. I was already complaining "Yeah, but it doesn't really feel like Daredevil without a stupid amount of ninjas"

And then the ninjas turned up, and I was like "Yes! But he's in no danger. Because there's so many ninjas. It's when he's only fighting one ninja that you know he's going to almost die!"

  9. Yeah, Mrs G independently arrived at the Conservation of Ninjitsu theory while watching the finale.

  10. I said "Seriously, now all it needs are his ropes built into the tonfa sticks, and it'll be perfect" and that episode they hand the new weapon over, and he starts swinging around on it.

Seriously, though, I loved the silliness. Partly because I loved it, but mostly because it showed they were willing to embrace the silly aspects of the comics. I'm kind of tired of every show trying to "be serious" with what is, quite frankly, some pretty crazy source material. I'm happy for creators to make their own choices about what to keep or cut, but when all the "superhero" aspects are being cut, it feels to me like they're embarassed about their own source material.

So seeing an excess of ninjas did my heart good. I went "these writers read Daredevil, and then wanted to bring that to the screen" and that makes me really excited to see what they'll bring next season, now that they've done the ninja thing.
