Cool things about Perdition
Cool things about Perdition
A built in dump-stat.
Attacks tied to every stat (but not nonsensically like 4e).
The Stress mechanic (if you want to play Darkest Dungeon D&D, this is probably your game).
Explicit rules for making a deal with the devil (also useful for wishes in regular D&D).
A unique crap-sack world setting that manages to be something new but is still tied to vanilla D&D ideas.
Lots of character options for your different player types whether “it’s roleplaying not roll playing” or min-maxxer.
What's the built-in dump stat?
ReplyDeleteWickedness. As in evil, not skill at skateboarding.
ReplyDeleteI've never has as much fun doing mundane tasks in a game as I did when I played this. Being Hell's garbage men can be super profitable, if you can survive :)
ReplyDeleteOn my wishlist, but hoping to see it as a print book.
ReplyDeleteIt's on Lulu, Christopher Weeks! I got a very nice hardcover.
ReplyDeleteOh sweet, I missed that.
ReplyDeleteEverything about this sounds cool, but that art just doesn't work for me. Is it just the cover that's like that, or the whole book?
ReplyDeleteN. Phillip Cole there are 5 artists as well public domain pieces throughout. What you're seeing is only half the cover- it's actually a wraparound, and pretty fantastic once you see the whole thing.
ReplyDeleteJarrett Crader that style of art just doesn't do it for me is the thing, I hardly think seeing a version twice as big would change my opinion. Just curious if the rest of the book has that same general art style to it. Or if maybe there's an art free version, in that case.
ReplyDeleteMost of the art is more...expressionist(?) than standard fantasy art, which is one of the things I like about it.
ReplyDeleteThe artist of the cover piece is Matthew Adams. Other artists are Heather Gwinn, russ nicholson, Michael Raston and MARCIN s if you wanted to check out what they do.
ReplyDeleteCasey G. thanks for answering my question. I didn't think it would be that difficult a question answer. Awesome.
ReplyDeleteAnother thing I love: Hats give skill bonuses.
ReplyDeleteCasey G. that gives me a distinctly Abarat feel now that you say it...
ReplyDeleteThat's pretty close, N. Phillip Cole. Also grotesque art inspired by medieval woodcuts. The pic in this post is a chapter frontispiece:

Nice, I like that a lot better. Man I'd love to see Clive Barker draw up an Abarat rpg sourcebook...
ReplyDeleteN. Phillip Cole Abarat as setting would be phenomenal!
ReplyDeleteN. Phillip Cole I've noticed a lot of people are polarized by my covers, some love them and others scream, covering their eyes in horror. The interior art is not so in your face (even mine), and if you like Clive Barker's art then I suspect that most of the art in the book will be up your alley.
ReplyDeleteMatthew Adams For what it's worth, I love your cover.
ReplyDeleteMatthew Adams The cover is fantastic, dude.
ReplyDeletethank you gregory blair and Bret Gillan
