Perdition Thoughts

Perdition Thoughts
I mentioned before that Perdition would be the game to look at if you wanted to do Darkest Dungeon D&D, and I’m more convinced than ever. The loaded Encounter Die + Stress is not exactly the same as Darkest Dungeon’s light/stress mechanic, but it evokes exactly the same feeling. And the increased risk/benefit of running high on Stress is comparable the light level/critical/treasure interaction in DD.

Also, I need to put something similar to this into Stay Frosty. I was already using an Encounter Die, but balancing combat stress vs. increased Frostiness needs to be in there.

  1. Interesting! The book was so huge I had put off grabbing a copy, but maybe I should check it out. Courtney writes good stuff.

  2. Ramanan S You should check it out just for the writing. Even if you didn't plan to use it for a campaign the fiction is just so damn good.

  3. The book is kind of a beast since it's a full custom game with a whole new magic system.

  4. I just starting reading it based on your earlier thread.

I'm not sold that it's a world I want to game in, but it has some really delicious rules hacks in it.

I just read the Beyond the Wall / Black Hack mashup and now I want the BtW/ BH / Perdition mashup.
