    This writes itself. Three inhabitable planets each with it's own race of intelligent life, technology levels vary from stone-age, to medieval, to industrial. Humans get there with a colony ship but the follow-up missions never arrive. Fast forward a couple hundred years, season to taste with Planetary Romance tropes.
