Fucking terrible.

Fucking terrible.
“Overall science funding is stable, although some missions in development will not go forward" all climate and Earth facing missions.

"this budget no longer funds a formal Office of Education," fuck you, kids.

“We remain committed to the next human missions to deep space, but we will not pursue the Asteroid Redirect Mission (ARM) with this budget. " Good. Maybe an asteroid will end this farce.

  1. Yeah, maybe the asteroid will land on the Capitol with 45, Pence and every GOP congressperson in it.

  3. No longer funds an Office of Education. But it's OK, because Pres. Trump has asked NASA to provide him with a plan for how they're going to be doing outreach to girls.

Funding? Education? Who needs that. I just want results!

  4. Please don't take this post as a defense of Trump.

The proposed budget for the dept. of ed is about 85% of the trend under Obama.

Speaking as someone that has worked in education and government, that's not always a bad thing. Generally it's something that the bureaucracy knows how to survive, certain projects can be re-funded when a surplus budget comes along, and they often take these budget years as an opportunity to separate wheat from chaff, which isn't something that government is good at doing under a stable budget.

Funds-wise, the biggest loss that I see this year is EPA climate data. Like NASA says, overall it's a positive budget.

  5. if it gives you hope, congress is the body that actually controls the budget. I don't expect these to be the final numbers, congress will negotiate those, and then trump will either approve or disapprove. those final numbers will either be better or worse.

  6. I actually expect a government shut-down over all this. I mean, cutting Meals on Wheels and school lunch programs? Dr. Doom takes better care of Latveria.

  7. It looks to me like Meals on Wheels is having their budget cut by 3% and it's being wildly misreported. And don't get me wrong, my grandma relies on meals on wheels -- not because she can't afford food but because she's blind and deaf and alone and can't go shopping. And she gave up her decades-long conviction to be vegetarian because MoW won't work with that, so I'd prefer to increase their funding. But wrong is wrong.

  8. Add a "funds for" there. I'm aware it's not the entire program.

  9. i'd expect meals on wheels to get their money back in congress, unless republicans want to commit mid-term suicide by pissing off the AARP.
