From Voyageurs National Park on FB: Called “Catamaran” by locals, Bert Upton is among the strangest of historical characters on area waters. He lived in a hut built over a dug-out at Squirrel Narrows. Found frozen to death in the 1930s by Kettle Falls pioneer Oliver Knox; Upton was perched lifeless in the snow just a half-mile from his home. Shunning civilization, Upton defined the word hermit. First spotted rowing his crude log raft on Namakan, no one knows how he got there. Upton’s accent implied an English heritage but any personal inquiries brought a stony silence. Some suspected him a man fleeing the law; others saw a bizarre outcast; everyone knew he was peculiar. Just five feet tall and wildly unkempt, Catamaran wore hacked-off pants and walked barefoot with a stick. Winter demanded shoes but no socks, a cast-off Mackinaw, and a trailing cap made from the leg of old underwear. He was oddly religious, and suspicious of being poisoned. Surviving on snared rabbits and fish, he ofte...
Giraffes or zebras....I don't know, man...fuck...I've never had to choose....
ReplyDeletePizza or soup. Who the hell is going to vote for soup?
ReplyDeleteI went Giraffes in the end ...
ReplyDeleteSo did I, but that doesn't mean I don't like you, zebras!
ReplyDeleteI went for soup, and I'm not sorry! Also, I had to look up Ana and Elsa before I could answer.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I went with giraffes, just because they are goofier than zebras.
ReplyDeleteGiraffes, man!
ReplyDeleteI even have a little brass one.
Also monkeys. And soup.
I didn't look up Ana or Elsa. My favourite character is the gay sauna owner. Since that wasn't an option, I just picked at random and silently hated the question for placing the two female leads in competition when the whole point is cooperation and acceptance.
Giraffes look like a jigsaw need fixing
ReplyDeleteI went with Elsa because she's a mf'in wizard.
ReplyDeleteGiraffes or soup, that's the real question.
ReplyDeleteMonkeys or board games?
Torah Cottrill my daughter disagrees, but I think you'll approve of why.

ReplyDeleteShe's never been to either store I don't think. Target takes care of our needs for both.
ReplyDeleteI went with Anna because she actually went out and got shit done. #teamanna #iknowitsmisspelled
ReplyDeleteThese are good comments.

Thank you for this, Casey.
ReplyDeleteThat's tough. I don't have an informed opinion on Frozen.
ReplyDeleteYouRube to the rescue. Wizards win!
ReplyDeleteLarry Lade, Elsa is an emotionally stunted wizard princess uncomfortable with her powers, Ana is an unstoppable specialist/thief princess that is incapable of not collecting adorable followers and hirelings. I picked Ana.
ReplyDeleteFinally got through! Do I like ice cream? No. I LOVE ICE CREAM.
