Sharing again because I’m revising Snubfighter.
Sharing again because I’m revising Snubfighter. Thinking about adding some complexity by limiting the number of hex faces a ship can turn before having to move another hex forward. Medium maneuverability would be 2, High 3, and Low 1. An Ace pilot might affect that in some way.
Also, just looking at this again, Y-Wings are better than X-Wings since they've got better armament. Wookiepedia has Y-Wings at 80 megalights instead of 100 though.

Just came across this chart that ILM’s effects dept. used to compare the performance of various starfighters for the Return of the Jedi space battle. I think I need to tweak the speeds of a couple ships for Snubfighter now.
The Y-Wing was my favorite as a kid anyway.
ReplyDeleteWhat's the advantage of the B-Wing? Heavier armament?
I always thought of Y-Wings as more of a workhorse vehicle than a tactical fighter. Maybe the same medium top speed, but low maneuverability.
ReplyDeleteThe B-wing has heavy armor/shields, and a bit more firepower than the Y-Wing.

ReplyDeleteThis is interesting. I'm so used to the EU presentation (Y-wing at ~80, X-wing at ~100, TIE at ~120, and squint/A-wing both increased proportionately).
ReplyDeleteEU puts TIEs at 120? Interesting indeed...
ReplyDeleteX-Wing and TIE Fighter are still two of my all-time favorite computer games. Who knew inspecting cargo containers in deep space could be so much fun?
ReplyDeleteSteve Sigety last night I was thinking about what I could use as a miniature for those containers.
ReplyDeleteAlso, the assault shuttles never got a micro-machine.
Casey G. That's what I would have estimated from all the descriptions and discussions of TIEs. But Wookieepedia is telling me that I am entirely imagining things?
ReplyDeleteCasey G. I could not find a screenshot of one, but I did find this: rpggeek.com - CLASS-A Cargo Container Paper Models | Star Wars: X-Wing Miniatures Game | RPGGeek
ReplyDeleteHumza K they seem like they should be faster for sure.
ReplyDeleteI'm very surprised to see X-Wing, Y-Wing, and TIE fighter sharing the same speed.
ReplyDeleteWEG Star Wars RPG system has generally been listed as canonical in this regard, since one of the folks that worked on it (Pablo Hidalgo) now oversees all canon. I can dig up stats if you like.
I've got the WEG books at home too. Haven't cracked them for this, but I will now.
