Jeez, the Marvel movie villains are so boring.
Jeez, the Marvel movie villains are so boring. Do you remember the name of the bad guy in Thor 2? And Guardians of the Galaxy is great, but Ronan was just another scowling generic evil dude. So I don’t know about Thor 3…
Waitaminnit…
Holy Hel…
its like she made a hat from the god of spiders.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to say what I told all my friends who were worried about Ragnarok – Taika Waititi always makes great movies.
ReplyDelete"All shall love me and despair!"
ReplyDeleteSeen't from a different post, it's "Dark Galadriel."
ReplyDeleteYuuuup
ReplyDelete"What am I, chopped liver?" says Loki, while twirling two daggers.

Malkeith. I was kind of hoping for the classic version of him when Dark World came out; I think it would've made him more memorable rather than making him look like all the other Dark Elves.
ReplyDeleteI thought Ronan the Accuser was great, personally.
But yes... after recently choosing to draw Hel because I loved her headdress, I was quite pleased to see it included with her movie incarnation. :)
Casey G. He's been out-hatted
ReplyDeleteI love the Thor films (the first one the most) mainly because of the cast and Kirby-ness of the designs. Makelith was wasted though. I'd heard the director (who's one of the main directors for GoT) HATED working on it. He also did Terminator Genisys ...so there's also that.
ReplyDeleteSkurge makes an appearance with 2 M-16's! just like the comic!
ReplyDeleteKeith Hoovestol that's Karl Urban!!
ReplyDeleteThis is an interesting problem: referring back to the source material, how many villains in the grand panoply of comic-dom are actually compelling? There are a few that leap to mind immediately as "classic", but it seems to me that most villains are, in fact, pretty forgettable.
ReplyDeleteYou'd think that every hero should have their own, signature, villain that's compelling, but even that's not really the case.
Viktor Haag - Try watching Gotham sometime if you're interested in good villains. I think their versions (not comic compliant - but a really good story nonetheless) of Penguin and the Riddler have become quite compelling.
ReplyDeleteAs to Marvel... I highly recommend checking out Legion as The Shadow King has become quite compelling thanks to the performance of Aubrey Plaza.
Emily Vitori I have tried watching Gotham, but I haven't yet gotten really hooked. I agree that I can see potential in Penguin and Riddler to becoming well built and rounded villains. One resisting factor for me is I'm really not a big fan of Donal Logue, and I find most of his line reads as wooden and jarring.
ReplyDeleteI don't have ready access to Legion, but noted -- I will hope to catch it off physical rental from my FLVS to try it out. I have heard good things before your recommendation.
