Our response when Abby tells us boys in her class are using the school dress code to harass the girls now that warm weather is here. Shorts have to be lower than fingers with arms at your side. Boys are telling girls their shorts are too short or telling them to hold their hands at their sides so the boy can check to make sure they’re within dress code.
I said the following were acceptable responses to this:
-Telling them to fuck off.
-Flipping them off.
-Kicking them in the balls repeatedly.
-Pulling their stupid basketball shorts down and saying they’re out of dress code (the boys code is mostly about baggy jeans and underwear showing.)
-Headbutting.
-Murder.
-We settled on saying, “Let’s go talk to a teacher about it right now,” and telling the nearest teacher she was being harassed. And telling all her friends they should do the same thing.
We emailed the school asking if they knew about this, how serious we thought it was, and what they were going to do about it. They called us back a bit ago and it sounds like they’re going to take it seriously. We’ll see. There have to be serious consequences for this. Putting up with this shit is what got us Trump.

  1. I fucking hate this shit so very much. No idea how I'll react when Iris starts school in August.

  2. Talking to the school early and often seems like a good plan. Email them as well so you can show a record of your concerns.

  3. I think a single kick to the balls is a more appropriate response, and murder is over the line for a first offense. Otherwise, I'm on board.

Also, if it's a public school, I thought the SCOTUS said that the school can only regulate dress to the extent that it's a general distraction or something. So you can consider telling them to fuck off too.

  4. I'm a few years off from this yet, but I 100% endorse all of these answers.

  5. If/When you do this, please be rational, firm, and not ragey (even if you are angry). You will find so much more success.

  6. Dressed to oppress ... no, no, no.

Why is it always girls/women that have a 'code' to obey ...

  7. I think a reasonable and fair dress code for everyone could be written in two words.

    NO BUTTS

  8. It seems like this dress code is distracting the boys from their education.

Clearly the dress code should be removed.

  9. Abby declined to participate in my more violent suggestions, even though I said I'd be more than happy to defend her if she'd had enough and kicked some little shit's ass.

So non-violent solutions will have to suffice.

  10. True Story: I gave my daughter a Plan B. I taught her a throat punch. Only to be used if there aren't adults around to help. I went to school once because she used it on a boy who was known to pull girls pants down but never 'seen' doing it. The school mothballed it and my daughter went on to show other girls the secrets of the throat punch - and the little bastard shit stayed the fuck away from my daughter.
