Monsterparts
Monsterparts
With IT out in theaters and Halloween and the 2nd season of Stranger Things coming, you might be wanting to do some horror gaming where kids are the protagonists. Pearce Shea's Monsterparts is the game.
This game is:
- Disturbing. I was drawing NPCs to use on Roll20, and there were two where I chickened out. Couldn’t draw them as they appear in the scenario. Censored myself.
- Deadly. Just being in the presence of things harms your character.
- Weird. There are no explanations here. Nothing will be wrapped up in a neat package.
- Bleak. You can't win. Maybe you can survive. Your friends will die.
- An OSR Hexcrawl. And it works better for horror than any other game I’ve read.

I still haven't run this although I get obsessed with it every few months. Maybe this Halloween will be the year.
ReplyDeleteCasey G. extra cool! Sold!
ReplyDeleteI'm very interested, but it's unavailable on my platform of choice. I pretty much rely on Drivethru credit to fund my rpg collection these days. =(
ReplyDeleteI was JUST thinking about how well this game would work for running an It-style horror adventure. Glad I wasn't the only one.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Kids in Danger. I still love Little Fears, for all it is and may be.
