Last night Abby’s high school swim team won their conference with an undefeated record.
Her team were the visitors and it was the last regular season meet for the senior swimmers. The home team had a ceremony during the break, honoring all the seniors on Abby’s team, and gave them flowers.
After the results were announced, and the home team knew they’d lost at their own pool, they still did a cheer for Abby’s team. And Abby’s team gave them a cheer in return.
During the meet, swimmers regularly shook hands after the race, congratulating each other on their effort.
I saw plenty of tears and hugs on the losing team, but they held it together until it was all over. A hard loss, I’m sure.
Sports(wo)manship was off the charts. The kids are all right.
