I ran my annual Casey G.'s Unholy Land game last night using 5e.
I had 6 lvl 5 PCs including A Greek Monster hunting Spear master Ranger, A Phoenician Death Cleric of Moloch, an Egyptian divine sorcerer, an Atlantean dual wielding fighter, A Jewish circle of the Shepherd Druid, and a Jewish Pact of Celestial Warlock.
I had the group roll for starting position on the hex map and they rolled two hexes west of Joppa in the ocean. (I've had 2 of 5 groups start in the ocean near this spot, weird.)
The group faced off against giant squid on they're small ship as they traveled to the land of Judea.
When they landed ashore the Shepherd asked a group of camels if it was safe to sleep in the area as the Death Cleric tried sacrificing one of the Camels to his dark deity. And failed...
As they travel southwest along a river they found that the river died off to a small and muddy box canyon filled with the remains of several animals. The laughs of hyenas squealed around. The group was confronted and the shepherd was able to persuade them to let the party pass.
As the party traveled further they crested a dune and saw a caravan of travelers being attacked by hooded cultists of Moloch much to the Death Cleric's dismay.
The Death Cleric used Thaumaturgy to boom his voice and tell the cultist to run.
The Ranger threw a spear and killed the Cultist priest outright. The atlantean slew 2 of the cultist. The Warlock used an illusion to create the giant head of god to tell the cultist to stop. All of the cultist fail checks and lay prostrate before the head.
The shepherd conflicted as to what he should do. He asked his deity what he should do. He felt that his prophecy which was to aid this rag tag group even if the means seemed odd or even 'Evil'.
The women and children were freed and the group pressed on.
The strange and dark star that led the group to this unholy land had stopped over bethlehem. They group walked into a bustling village but the light of the star shinned bright over a little stable surrounded by scores of sheep and livestock. The group pressed through and saw a child surrounded by light. The peaceful moment was broken by a ragging tyrannosaurus rex breaking into the field with 3 men attacking it. one named Balthazar swung his swords, as Caspar emerged from the shadows to strike it from behind, and Melchior blasted it with an array of bursting balls of light...
We ended there.
It was the first game of the year and it was fun. :)

I do! it is well worth the price of entry. It has been different every time and is very easy to convert to any system. Thank you for your contribution to my gaming life. :)
