Have you ever seen this, Thor?

Have you ever seen this, Thor? There was a Japanese version of Battletech that used all original art since in Japan the Unseen mechs were already part of Robotech and Macross and maybe they thought all the rest of the designs sucked (which they mostly did)!
So there’s an alternate Battletech universe out there where everything looks like it’s from an anime.

  1. I also picked up a Dragon last night. Right after the mission Yang pops up and says, “You can buy as many Dragons as you like on the planet. They’re garbage, but they have a lot of armor.” The basic configuration has less armor than my custom Hunchback. But it’s fast and punches hard.

  2. I actually used a Dragon as my "tank" for quite a bit of the mid game. If I remember correctly I loaded it up with max front armor and gave it SRM-6's and Medium and small lasers. It was good for moving up fast and drawing out the enemy. I used a pilot with Bulwark so it just stood there taking hits until it could close to melee range. So if you use it the way I did it wasnt crap at all. It wont core out a mech in one shot, but thats not it purpose. Its a total damage sponge.

  3. And no I have never seen the Japanese Battletech books. They totally look like Robotech anime lol.

  4. I'll try out your Dragon loadout before my next mission, the story mission to get the services of a noble's technologists to decipher whatever treasure map is in the Argo's memory.

  5. Something like that. I liberated the planet by taking over an ammo depot. That was hard. I had to blow up some of the ammo to take out some of the defenders, and my first Mechwarrior died. I’d just hired her though, so I wasn’t too upset and didn’t try the mission again. Now the noble that runs the planet wants us to do a mission on the moon or something.

  6. Yeah that ammo depot mission suuuuucccckkkks!!! So far that has been the hardest story mission I have played, even compared to the endgame stuff im in now, so good news is that you are over the hump. Key to that mission was to draw at least two enemy mechs into a blast zone then blow up the ammo crate. You could only do it twice though. On top of that you had to haul ass in the beginning to get the transports down and took a beating in the process. That mission was really tough.

  7. I am pretty sure I lost a mechwarrior on that mission. I know for sure I had to eject at one point, it was my first time ejecting.

  8. Since I'm a save-scummer, I'd quit out of it quickly my first try because you have no idea what you're heading into.

When I did it again, I sprinted everyone through the gap on the left to intercept the transports, and managed to get the Dragon, Panther, and something else all in one blast zone. But I was still getting picked apart by the lights and turrets. Plus the Dragon did not go down even being in the blast radius. Hunchback went down and drew a ton of fire, leading to my mechwarrior being killed. Jagermech used her multi-target to kill the armless Panther, blow up two ammo boxes, and hit the Dragon again. It was pretty sweet. Then the Shadowhawk overheated itself finishing off the Dragon with a called shot. Saved 5 ammo boxes out of 8, killed both transports, Hunchback taken out, a mechwarrior killed, Jagermech lost an arm.

  9. Oops. I spoiled myself for where that info on the Argo leads by reading this wiki:
    battletech.gamepedia.com - Black Knight BL-6B-KNT
Oh well, as soon as the game said there was hidden info, I assumed it would lead to Star League mechs.

  10. That moon mission was no joke either! I was running out of ammo by the end. Trebuchet had to come off the cliff and get close up. Which was fine because everyone else was shot to hell. Pretty nice Catapult you get out of it though. I kept her off balance and falling down with LRMs and autocannon fire. And she was running hot too.
