With the addition of the Easy-build Reivers to go along with my marines from the box set, I can make a nice little 100 point Kill Team.
3 Intercessors
1 Reiver Sgt. w/ grav chute and grapnel gun.
2 Reivers w/ grav chutes and grapnel guns
To make it 150 add:
Primaris Lt. w/ power sword
Mostly stabby, but still a lot of bang-bang.
ReplyDeleteI wish GW would just be honest and discontinue normal marines and make primaris the new standard. The longer they wait the more investment people will make in the normal stuff and be all the angrier.

ReplyDeleteWell, yeah. If the scale wasn't different I would agree. Also, GW obviously will never say this. If they did the rationale to buy their expensive resin goes away.
ReplyDeleteI don’t know why they didn’t just make true scale minis and call it a day. The whole Primaris plot in the fiction is so weird and/or stupid.
ReplyDeleteYeah, the whole thing in the fiction is crazy. Like, let's also start bringing primarchs back and split the imperium up. And also here's thousands upon thousands of new, better space marines that exist now suddenly.
ReplyDeleteAlso, how will it work with Blood Angels, Space Wolves etc. Who's special rules revolve around the flaws in their geneseed which presumably the primaris marines don't have.
Listening to Dark Imperium which may explain what is up. But seems like a lot of work to explain them in the fiction when they could have just said “hey these are the new sculpts you have been waiting for!”

But this way they get to sell the old models which the molds have already been paid for, essentially underwriting the investment in a whole new space marine range (remember, new vehicles too). It's a pretty slick business move. Thus, they need a fluff justification for having both on sale at the same time.

ReplyDeleteGuillimane spends the 112 years of the Indomitus Crusade giving every Space Marine chapter he meets Primaris, and then founds multiple chapters that are just Primaris, then makes a third of the Ultramarines Primaris, and breaks his own rules about Chapter makeup for more Primaris.
