Saw They Shall Not Grow Old last night at a special showing. Amazing stuff, Peter Jackson using his powers for good. There was a documentary at the end about how they did the restorations. My main take away from that was that every time they needed something, magazine illustrations from the time, sound effects of the artillery, it just so happened that Peter Jackson owned a complete collection of war magazines and actual WW1 artillery pieces.

    Saw this on 12/17. The mind blowing foley work on footage a 100 years old had me stunned. I doing think I snapped out of it til the end when a soldier exhaled from exhaustion and relief in a rubble-filled street on the run up to post war life.

    It dawned on me just how much life was lost in the silent archives of the war.

    HIGHLY RECOMMEND if this runs again.

This is my gaming circle minus my ACKS players. I am such an asshole. Since they're in the big city now, the players really wanted to know if there were any magic weapons for sale. ACKS ain't 3e or 4e though. There is exactly one magic weapon for sale. I rolled randomly to see what it was and... ...it's a cursed -2 sword. So I told the players there's a weapons dealer/fence who's looking to get rid of a magic sword he's gotten ahold of...cheap. Only 6,000gp when usually a +1 item would be 10,000gp. So far they are not suspicious. They're going to be so pissed at me. I can barely contain my excitement.
