It was a mole shrew! Not a mouse! I came home and checked the traps and a little snout stuck out so I still thought it was a mouse. The whole family walked down the street and across the bridge over the creek to let him out. Then I dumped the trap and out popped a furry dude with no ears, tail, or visible eyes. Took off and immediately dug into the grass under a dead tree. What does this mean? I thought moles wrecked your yard, not your house. Back to the internet to research Minnesota moles shrews.

They were immediately and absolutely recognizable as adventurers... They were hardy and dangerous, lawless, stripped of allegiance or morality, living off their wits, stealing and killing, hiring themselves out to whoever and whatever came. They were inspired by dubious virtues. A few performed useful services: research, cartography, and the like. Most were nothing but tomb raiders. They were scum who died violent deaths, hanging on to a certain cachet among the impressionable through their undeniable bravery and their occasionally impressive exploits.

Last night I post a funny link on Facebook about the Supreme Court gay marriage cases and one of my college buddies starts ranting about "aren't there bigger problems in the world? Blah blah blah" and this morning I decide  to delete his comments because fighting on Facebook is like Global Thermonuclear War or Tic Tac Toe.

Home from work and in the mood to take pictures of some of my weirder miniatures. This is Tyrannosaurus Reich the nazi T-Rex from another dimension. Summoned by the Red Skull to battle the Invaders in a convention game I ran a couple years ago. Notice the dueling scar. Full disclosure, T-Reich appeared in a comic called "Major Bummer" in the 90's.

I'm thinking of slipping Expedition to the Barrier Peaks into my Against the Giants campaign. The spaceship is right there in the mountains north of Geoff after all. Did anyone run this in an ongoing campaign? Did you end up with laser gun and power armored PCs running all over?

Amazingly enough, my ACKS party figured out the code word to activate and deactivate an iron cobra that was guarding some spellbooks. They took it, of course. If you turn it on, it attacks whoever has the books.  What might they do to reprogram this vicious construct? I want to be prepared if they don't just try to sell it.

Kids at my sister's for the night, Italian food in ma belly, now for my wife and I to finally finish watching season 2 of Game of Thrones.  I know, Tyrion, we should have watched it a long time ago.

The Tyranny of Claw/Claw/Bite Hey, OSR types. Has anyone gotten rid of claw/claw/bite in their games and gone to a single roll for all monster attacks? I do not think that monsters and PCs need to use the same exact systems, but claw/claw/bite is bothering me. PC attacks are all supposed to be a few jabs and strikes and feints, so why aren't monster attacks? Moving to one roll would speed things up a bit in a game where combat isn't supposed to be complicated anyway. I'm playing ACKS for my OSR fix, so I'd probably give monsters with multiple attacks the "dual wield" +1 attack throw bonus that PCs can get and increase damage from whatever their "main" attack is. I also wouldn't use this with hydras or dragons or similar monsters. Thoughts?
