I’m impressed with this writer’s dedication to this subject. Glad there’s someone out there thinking hard about dinosaurs in space. Originally shared by Jennifer Ouellette A Brief History of Dinosaurs in Space. TMNT Shadows of the Past is pretty freaking fun. The team dice mechanic is great, giving variety and some need for strategy. Coop was the turtles and won the first scenario, but it was close. I had two gang members about to escape and he only rolled a couple dice for movement for all the turtles. But Raphael ran up and threw some ninja stars and killed KO'd the last gang member they needed to take out.
TIL Oryx were introduced into New Mexico as a game species in 60's. Also the Ibex and Barbary Sheep.

Americans invented/imported/stole 1,100 new baby names in 2017 according to this article. I made a random name generator out of the top 120 (minus Game of Thrones and Twilight names (Benjen is a stupid name in the book let alone real life, and Renessmae is unpronouncable, what’s wrong with people?)) https://qz.com/1285427/american-parents-invented-1100-new-baby-names-last-year/ https://drive.google.com/file/d/1HwKocqm_MAtM8ftffuFAbIVmYt_Hwqx3/view?usp=sharing

Have you ever seen this, Thor? There was a Japanese version of Battletech that used all original art since in Japan the Unseen mechs were already part of Robotech and Macross and maybe they thought all the rest of the designs sucked (which they mostly did)! So there’s an alternate Battletech universe out there where everything looks like it’s from an anime. http://www.gearsonline.net/series/battletech/ http://www.gearsonline.net/series/battletech/

Finally got a Hunchback. Tough as hell. Took on two Thunderbolts at point blank range and lost a leg, but that was after absorbing a ton of hits, a punch, a DFA(!), and a stomp when he fell down. After all of that didn't even get a complete Thunderbolt out of the deal. Which sucks. I need another heavy.
Season 2 is really good. Doesn't have the local impact the Jacob Wetterling case did for me, but still great.

I was unaware until recently that there was a crackpot theory that not only was the old theory about sauropods living in water to support their bulk correct, but that ALL dinosaurs were aquatic. They waded in shoulder deep water all the time. T-Rex, triceratops, stegosaurus, all of them, for millions of years wading around in bathwater warm swamps. This idea comes from a British dude who seems to make his living appearing on science based TV shows and also wrote a paper on spontaneous human combustion. https://www.researchgate.net/publication/230703694_Solving_the_mystery_of_spontaneous_human_combustion Anyway, this recap of the "controversy" includes a humorous proof that giraffes are aquatic because there's no way they could actually live on land with those skinny legs. https://chasmosaurs.com/2018/05/16/ford-versus-naish/

This NPR review sums it up: (THE FILM CRITIC steps to the podium.) CRITIC: Good evening. Thank you all for coming. I'll read a brief statement, and then I'll be happy to take your questions. (He removes a piece of paper from his jacket pocket, unfolds it, and begins to read.) "Pacific Rim Uprising is a movie in which giant robots fight giant monsters. It is the sequel to 2013's Pacific Rim, a movie in which giant robots fight giant monsters. Pacific Rim Uprising is slightly different than Pacific Rim, in that in Pacific Rim Uprising, the giant robots first fight other giant robots and then they fight giant monsters. Thank you." (He folds the paper before him, and sticks it back in his jacket pocket.) I'll take your questions now. Yes, in the front? REPORTER #1:

I’ve heard of this guy before, but I’ve never seen transcriptions of the tablets. Instead of throwing them out, this dude kept a room full of complaint letters about himself written on clay tablets. And somehow his specific house ended up being preserved so archaeologists could dig it up. https://www.forbes.com/sites/kristinakillgrove/2018/05/11/meet-the-worst-businessman-of-the-18th-century/#3ae537b32d5d
Design Rambling

Design Rambling There are fine lines between: elegant and boring & detailed and confusing Seems like the proper balance between these adjectives is what I’m always looking at when reading a set of rules, RPG or wargame. I read a review of Horizon Wars that’s main complaint was that it was too generic. I can see coming from a game like Battletech and flipping through the book wondering where the lists of weapons and equipment was. Instead Horizon Wars has a single stat for Firepower and it makes zero difference what weapons give it that number. http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Weapons_and_Equipment_Lists#Inner_Sphere_Weapons_and_Equipment
