I saw a couple posts slagging on Stranger Things for the "roll a 13" line to hurt Demogorgon. The kids are house-ruling, dorks. Demogorgon has a 95% resistance to spells. The kids know percentile dice suck, so they made that into a base roll of 20 on a d20. Now subtract the spellcaster's level, presumably 7, therefore Will needs to roll a 13. That's a pretty good house rule. Also, don't google Stranger Things Demogorgon because you will be spoiled by the image search results. Like I was.

I work for an employee-owned company. That means every year I get a certain amount of shares of company stock. Every year auditors determine our stock value and there’s a contest to see who can guess the closest, winner gets a $500 gift card. The value has gone up dramatically every year I’ve been here, but I guessed a 6% raise because the oil industry in ND has collapsed and we did a lot of business out there. BUT, the stock price DROPPED 6% instead. Just got the email that some pessimist who guessed we’d lose 6% of our value won himself that $500 gift card. ¯\ (ツ) /¯

OSR to 5e Wrote up the NPCs for A Thousand Dead Babies for 5e last night. I don’t think the challenge changes much. In fact, it might be deadlier. 5e is more forgiving with healing between encounters, but at 1st level, that still isn’t much. Matthew Nelson has been running us through some converted TSR adventures in his 5e campaign and those have consistently been when we get our asses kicked. Mostly because we keep taking bait we shouldn’t.

Rules Intersection For RotPL I’ve replaced The Black Hack’s Armor Points with a Luck stat. Luck is 1d3 rolled per session and subtracts from damage taken down to a minimum of 1. If you roll a 20 (roll-under system) on any roll, your Luck is reduced by 1. This intersects nicely with a pet peeve of mine where everyone in the party wants to make a roll for everything. Like everyone wants to roll to see if they can find a secret door, or to see if they know anything about the demon depicted in the fresco. The more they want to roll, the more chances they can take to lose their Luck.

Magick & Megacorps 2085 Abbreviated session, but this was the highlight. The sorcerer fireballed two Russian mafia cars that were shooting rockets at the party's big-rig. The cleric's spiritual weapon , a giant .44, was shooting the driver of one through their windshield. This was before the fighter launched his motorcycle while swinging his katana. Meanwhile, the Russians were also trying to hack their Rig's systems through the Grid, which the party defended in cyberspace.

Have you ever ran a campaign where the PCs had a base? If so, was it ever attacked? That’s where my Magick & Megacorps campaign is heading. I’m trying to be wary of railroading. But being prepared for several possible outcomes will be hard.
