Zzarchov Kowolski not only has the coolest name in gaming, he writes fantastic RPG stuff and now is making a boardgame that looks quite cool. Originally shared by Zzarchov Kowolski GIVE MONEYS So I mentioned awhile ago about how I was working on a boardgame for some people and it would go to kickstarter. This is that kickstarter. It is not an RPG, it is a Euro style boardgame. That being said, it would mean a great deal to me if this was successful. It would allow me to focus on releasing some more RPG work as well. I am not the best at self promotion but I hope you know me well enough to know that I don't work on crap and that if I am working on a worker placement game, it is going to be a damn good worker placement game. We've got working prototypes, we've got suppliers, we have completed art from fellow Canadian C Huth If you enjoy boardgames (or hell even if you don't, I am not the fun police) please back this. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1594988817/pio

Originally shared by The Public Domain Review This ukiyo-e woodblock print, by the late Edo period artist Utagawa Kuniyoshi (1798-1861), illustrates a story involving the “Sea Monk” or Umibōzu, a spirit in Japanese folklore. The ocean dwelling spirit — so called because of his smooth monk-like round head — is said to capsize the ship of anyone who dares speak to it. The specific tale illustrated in Kuniyoshi’s woodblock tells of a sailor Kawanaya Tokuzo who, despite it being considered unlucky in the world of seafaring, decides to go to sea on the last day of the year. A terrible storm breaks out, and the giant figure of the Umibōzu appears. Against the roar of the waves the apparition asks, “Name the most horrible thing you know!” Tokuzo yells in reply, “My profession is the most horrible thing I know!” The answer apparently satisfies the monster as he then disappears along with the storm: http://buff.ly/2ogjkNC

Sharing again because I’m revising Snubfighter.

Image
Sharing again because I’m revising Snubfighter. Thinking about adding some complexity by limiting the number of hex faces a ship can turn before having to move another hex forward. Medium maneuverability would be 2, High 3, and Low 1. An Ace pilot might affect that in some way. Also, just looking at this again, Y-Wings are better than X-Wings since they've got better armament. Wookiepedia has Y-Wings at 80 megalights instead of 100 though. Originally shared by Casey G. Just came across this chart that ILM’s effects dept. used to compare the performance of various starfighters for the Return of the Jedi space battle. I think I need to tweak the speeds of a couple ships for Snubfighter now.

Spent too much on ebay last night when I found a seller with reasonably priced Star Wars micro machines. Need more ships for Snubfighter. Then I went over to the Litko website and bought a bunch more stands and custom tokens because of course. Anyway, did you know there was micro machine version of the Skipray Blastboat? I didn’t, but now I’ve got two on the way.

Gaming crap I’m working on

Gaming crap I’m working on Snubfighter: space fighter miniatures wargame. Right now considering a two-page basic rules for free and a full-rules version booklet (still very short). Storming Woeship Malephar: Stay Frosty campaign. Five linked missions and a random mission generator for expanding the campaign. Gaming Crap I’m thinking about Stay Frosty Roll20: how hard is it to put together a Roll20 campaign for sale in their marketplace? No idea. I should look into that. Stay Frosty Intro adventure: pay-what-you-want adventure, the same adventure I used to playtest. Riders of the Purple Lotus: maybe the best way to do this weirdo cowboys & dinosaurs thing is a weirdo solo gamebook? What are you working on?

Snubfighter solo playtesting on Roll20.

Image
Snubfighter solo playtesting on Roll20. Two X-Wings vs. four TIE = dead X-Wings. Greater numbers is way more of a benefit than higher firepower. Especially with the boost from getting on your target's six, as TIE A has done here to Red 1.

Weird synchronicity.

Image
Weird synchronicity. On this day in 2010 Mrs. G and I went to Macbeth at the Guthrie and tonight, seven years later, we are going to King Lear at the Guthrie. Macbeth's costume design was almost post-apocalyptic. This is the best photo I could find, but the battle uniforms were dusters over chainmail with gasmasks. Weapons were pistols and knives. Dudes rappelling from the ceiling and Macbeth gunning them down like Chow Yun Fat, then knifing a bunch of motherfuckers. I'm guessing Lear won't have anything like that, but I'm sure it will still be good.
