Look at this ridiculous, goofy bastard. Take a fairly standard reptilian bauplan, weld an oversize theropod dinosaur face to the front, then point it at the things you want to die: simple. They're the Mesozoic equivalent of mounting a howitzer on a golf cart and calling it a tank. We might question the rudimentary nature of the design, but we can't argue with the results.

I work close to Target's huge headquarters, so the Chinese restaurant I go to weekly has very diverse customers originally from all over the world. Sometimes I'll be the only native English speaker there. But no one's speech has ever stood out to me like these two extras from Good Will Hunting sitting at the table next to me right now. Now we're playing one of Coop's Star Wars games. Star Destroyer Strike. Pretty tense "screw the other players" game!

Tried out the first campaign mission of Imperial Assault. Coop understands quite a few of the rules but I give advice. He's patient enough with games even at 5 that playing with him is much better than solo play. I kept forgetting to go with all my stormtroopers, so I lost.

Some nice DM satisfaction today. Last night’s session had tension, humor, creative problem solving, a player casualty (she’ll get better), accidental NPC manslaughter, and the acquisition of a magic item that could really fuck the PCs over if they use it wrong.

Something I've realized writing Stay Frosty . I was assuming 10 levels to sort of max out your character. But this is rules-lite OSR type stuff. Better to assume five levels is a more realistic playability goal. Give characters extra stuff earlier and faster. People won’t be playing it long anyway.

My players joke that I never give out magic items. They just suck at finding them. Going slightly off the (literal) railroad tracks (they’re in a subway tunnel) would have led to two substantial rewards. Of course, a different path would have led to a near certain death for at least one character. Que sera sera.
