Mrs. G heard from a friend that our local Jewish Community Center had a bomb threat. One of many across the country this morning. There were other threats last week in other states. Probably will barely make the news. Try not to get used to this.

I put the Tarrasque on the hex map for my upcoming Perdition game as a token and liked how it looked, so now that's a campaign feature. Maybe every week it moves 1d3 hexes in a random direction? That should keep things lively. That's the skull of one of its siblings in 23.01.

I always liked the Abyssal monsters from the short-lived 3rd edition era Chainmail minis game. Especially the Abyssal Maw.

Underwater encounter success Used 5e’s swimming and breath-holding rules successfully last night to run a set-piece encounter. The rules are simple enough. - Movement is halved - Hold your breath a # of minutes equal to your Con bonus (so 10 rounds x Con bonus), or 30 seconds if you don’t have one (5 rounds). - I added a houserule: If you take damage, you lose 1d4 rounds of breath. The underwater area was pretty big, and they didn’t know where the exit was. I put three leaky pipes bubbling out air in various places and they could recharge their breath by spending an action. The players were nervous because they had to track their breath. The spellcasters were frantically finding spells they could cast without verbal components, which they did and put to creative use. The monsters seemed more dangerous (until I blew every roll for the shark. Not one hit.)

Perdition Encounter Tables I've been using a variation of Beloch Shrike's method here to build tables for my upcoming Perdition campaign. Here's what I did. I made a main 2d6 encounter table: 2 Dragon 3 Demon 4 Devil 5 Humanoid 6 Roll on terrain table 7 Recurring NPC 8 Roll on terrain table 9 Monster 10 Weird 11 Big Monster 12 Wizard Each of those is sub-table with six entries. If I want some options to be more rare than others, I made it a 2d6 table (so the Marilith and her army don’t have a 1 in 6 chance of showing up on the “Demon” table), otherwise 1d6. Each terrain type gets a 1d6 table (easy to keep track of since we’ll be hexcrawling). Monsters are things that could show up in any terrain type (like owlbears, everyone loves owlbears). Weird results are 1d6 odd encounters that still have the possibility of NPC interaction or combat. I will probably check them off until they’re all gone, then write six more. Not sure how to start the “Recurring NPC” table. Treat it as
