I finally cracked Ghost Archipelago and made a crew. The spells that Wardens have are hilarious. I decided to base the crew on my Reptus minis from Reaper, with a Wave branch Warden. They can conjure a pool of deep water underneath someone. And then drown them in it. Great stuff. Started listening to The Name of the Rose . I hazily remember seeing the Sean Connery/Christian Slater movie as a teenager. Immediately searched for a map of the Abbey, which exists of course. Watched the first episode of Britannia. I don’t feel the need to keep watching. Way too many characters immediately introduced. Crazy druid, at least 3 Roman main characters, a sole survivor of a Roman raid, two whole warring tribes with several characters (including low-rent versions of Merida from Brave , Khal Drogo from GoT, and Atia from Rome ) with their intertwined relationships, and a whole settlement of…druid cave-people? It was dumb.

Hostiles was kind of a stinker. A revisionist western should have been solidly in my wheelhouse, but it was ham-handed and preachy instead of thoughtful and subtle. And it's still 70% about the tortured white dude, 25% about the tortured white lady, and 5% about the literally tortured native americans. And despite not being an overly talkative movie, the characters talked too much. Not enough show and too much tell. Super strong opening scene. Shin Godzilla was great! I'm sure there was a lot of Japanese stuff going on that went over my head, but who can't understand ineffectual politicians who are in over their heads? Coop and I are on a bit of a Godzilla kick. Watched Godzilla vs. Monster Zero last night, which I haven’t seen in a long, long time. I remembered this was the one with an American actor who was speaking English while everyone else was dubbed, but I didn’t remember his New Jersey tough guy act or how he pronounced “robots” as “ro-bits.” So I had to look him up. Not news to super-Godzilla fans, but Nick Adams had a very interesting and tragically short life. Seems like he was a perpetual hanger-on and support player to more famous friends. Finally dying young of (probably) an accidental drug overdose. I had 6 lvl 5 PCs including A Greek Monster hunting Spear master Ranger, A Phoenician Death Cleric of Moloch, an Egyptian divine sorcerer, an Atlantean dual wielding fighter, A Jewish circle of the Shepherd Druid, and a Jewish Pact of Celestial Warlock. I had the group roll for starting position on the hex map and they rolled two hexes west of Joppa in the ocean. (I've had 2 of 5 groups start in the ocean near this spot, weird.) The group faced off against giant squid on they're small ship as they traveled to the land of Judea. When they landed ashore the Shepherd asked a group of camels if it was safe to sleep in the area as the Death Cleric tried sacrificing one of the Camels to his dark deity. And failed... As they travel southwest along a river they found that the river died off to a small and muddy box canyon filled with t
